Welcome to Slow Cycling.

This blog follows Bernie and David Lock as they record their cycling exploits.  It started as a blog about our journey from Vancouver to Los Angeles along the Pacific Crest Cycle Trail and then continued as a madcap scheme to cycle from Bewdley, Worcestershire, England (where we live) to Hobart, Tasmania, Australia over an extended number of years. The blog has recorded the ups and downs of these trips and our sideways looks at the fascinating places we have passed through.

We got as far as Thailand in March 2020 on the trip to Australia and then were driven home by the pandemic.  We started up again in May 2021 for a “Round Britain Quiz” tour around the UK, from Sussex to Argyll.

In late February 2022 we start a new adventure, cycling from SanDiego across the Southern United States along the “Southern Tier Route” towards New Orleans. There are numerous fascinating places on the way and we are looking forward to having the wind in our faces and the sun on our backs.

The blog covers cycling, the places we visit, some of the history and the people we meet.  Some of the entries are distinctly “tongue in cheek” so please don’t be offended.  Feedback is always welcome.

We are not, as such, cycling for charity but if you enjoy the blog and share our values, please consider donating to the small and perfectly formed charity that David chairs, Prisoners of Conscience.  You can learn about the great work it does to support Prisoners of Conscience  on the PoC website and can donate here.
